This will be my first time :)) aaa!
I think it is very fun and practical habit to keep the track of blooms in the garden and indoor in winter seasons. It helps other gardeners to look for certain plants to enrich blooms in the months that miss some blooming in own garden.
As first I introduce Abutilon - known by many, grown by not so many. It came to me from 500 km away, from North Poland. My mom brought it while coming over to Warsaw, together with my brother, his wife and little daughter.
Its flowers are sweet, delicate and it blooms in the dull winter months.
It started to open flowers 2 weeks ago and will keep on flowering few more weeks, cos still new flowers are opening from many new buds waiting for its turn. Currently it has 5 open flowers and 7 tiny buds and waiting.
It can alco grow pretty big - my friend has almost 2 meters one - can you imagine, how great it looks while blooming? BTW I realise I need to take picture coming year.
Not only flowers are beautiful at this plant, but also leafs are lush green while young and deep greeen while older. It is great pick for winter blooms at home!
My Phalenopsis are happy enjoying full sun - even in the summer :)
My Anthurium was supposed to bloom, but it doesn't! I searched for info and red that it needs cool temperatures in the winter to bloom better. Probably last winter it was kept hot - I bought is as rescuing the plant from late winter hypermarket sale.

Such beautiful photographs! What a winter treat!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your first Bloom Day post, Ewa. Don't forget to go to Carol's May Dreams Garden and leave a note saying you've gotten involved.
ReplyDeleteI like the winter Jasmine you have, but the abutilon really makes me happy--such great colours now, much more interesting than they used to be 20 years ago.
Hi Ewa! I think I like the abutilon the best. That's one of the prettiest colors that they come in. I love the veining, don't you?
ReplyDeleteWow - blooming jasmine. Awesome!
Thank you for joining us for Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day. Your indoor plants are providing some great bloom right now, and what a treat to find a flower outside right now!

It's a lovely first GBBD post Ewa! And we have the winter jasmine and Phalenopsis in common I see. Are Atomic and Aslan leaving your Saintpaulias alone? My Vita takes off all the flowers first and then she picks off all the leaves, one by one. Very naugthy!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend!
I love Phalenopsis - Yours are beautiful. Mine are still in buds, but there are so many buds! Lovely photos. The winter jasmine is really magical. Great GBBD post, Ewa!
ReplyDeleteThe Abutilon is just lovely - I loved especially the buds! Thank you for sharing the photos with us, it's so nice to see beautiful flowers now that it's so dark outside :)
ReplyDeleteStrawberry Lane,
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting, I just saw your small alpaca, that made me smile!
Jodi,
Thank you for reminding to let Carol know about me participating in GBBD, but Carol was faster than me :))
Kylee,
Yes, abutilon gives a lot of joy in the winter. Its delicate flowers makes you rememeber, that spring will come one day :)
Carol,
Thank you for visiting - you discovered that I decided to participate in GBBD :) Did I miss something still has to be done by me?
Yolanda Elizabet,
Thanks for nice words :) My cats do not bother to be interested with my house plants. We spend pretty much time when they were little teaching them, what we do NOT like to be done in the house - and it seems to work.
We were telling and explaining why it cannot be done, and it is BAAAD ets. They have little brains, but there is space for education :)
Actually I am asking myself, why your cats are especially interested in Saintpaulias? Beacuse leafs are hairy? I don't know.
Victoria,
Phalenopsis, after learning how to deal with them and what to do to make them happy, they are a great treat for eyes for most of the year, right?
Sammako,
Thank you for visiting :) Abutilon is very nice house plant and gives real pleasure in the winter:)
Greetings to all and thank you for visiting :)
Come over sometimes again...
I just cookes something interesting.... :)
