Krakow Poland - winter scenes in 1000 years old spiritual heart of Poland

Let me take you today for a trip to Krakow, my urban love - the oldest city in Poland. The history dates back to the 7th century. It used to be the capital of Poland from 11th to 16th century, then the capital was moved to Warsaw, but Krakow inhabitants had never forgiven that ugly move, so there is still kind of "silent war" between Krakow and Warsaw.

These pictures were taken on Tuesday, as I had the chance to have business trip to Krakow and combine duty and pleasure. Met few wonderful people and fed my eyes and soul completely.

Reading obituaries.

If you plan to come to Poland, don't miss Krakow.

  3. Thanks, Ewa, for sharing these photos of Krakow with us. It's the only way that many of us will ever be able to see your fascinating and historic city.

  4. Hi. The history itself awes me. The relative infancy of the USA makes it hard to fathom the history of your country--buildings that have been standing for centuries. Beautiful

I haven't been around for a while. I hope all has been well with you and your garden.

  7. Krakow is the one city I would like to visit and stay a while. Generally I want to get out of the city as quick as possible. I have read about Krakow. Has it not got the biggest library in the world? A city with credentials like that gets 10 out of 1o! Are the houses restored to their former glory and colours? I wish I could be there, but perhaps better for me in summer or autumn. I love the pictures.

  14. What a beautiful city Ewa. The architecture is stunning.

My oldest daughter visited Krakow several years ago during a visit to her husband's (then fiance's) birthplace in Poland. Krakow was her favorite place during her visit, and she longs to return someday.

  15. Thanks for giving us this tour of Krakow, Ewa--a truly beautiful city! As Grace said, we Americans think any building over 100 years old is old. To see something that has been standing for centuries is truly fascinating and awe-inspiring.
