November flowers

October welcomed us with freeze slap, so not many flowers survived. Asters - the most reliable autumn flowers in our zone 6 is one of 4 flowers I could find in my garden.

Calluna vulgaris planted last year is still in bloom.

Pelargonium taken indoor explodes with flowers.

And last rose The Fairy.
Inevitably we are coming closer to winter, garden bones are more exposed, so it's the best time to see mistakes and decide the corrections. Some of which will be fixed still in November, while the rest end of February.
Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day is hosted by Carol at May Dreams Gardens.
Last November'2010 post.

  4. Your blue Aster is so pretty. My flowers are almost all gone now too and I am not happy. LOL! The seed catalogs are flying in so that will keep me busy planning too. Have a wonderful week!

Hi, Ewa, I also am taking careful note of the last of the roses. And I have a geranium indoors, too, so am enjoying one solitary pink spread of blossoms. This is a trick I learned while living in Amsterdam. The Dutch always have bright red geraniums in their windows in the winter. :) I love the term "bones of the garden" and your observation that this is a good time for corrections.

  8. I thought of you today Ewa as I carried a big armful of gorgeous blue hydrangea flowers inside. I always love the images of your Winter garden with the ice & snow everywhere, such a contrast to ours at this time of the year.
