What is your favourite garden movie?

GREENFINGERS
This is first garden movie that is my fvourite. Charming Clive Owen as greenfingered prisoner will save your day. Sorry not mentioning in the first line the rest of the cast: Helen Mirren, Fergus Wilks and Adam Fogerty. Its a story about a prison inmate with a green thumb that goes on to compete in a national gardening competition. Based on a true story.

SAVING GRACE
This is my second favourite garden movie.
A small-town English widow, facing financial troubles after her husband's suicide, turns from growing orchids in her glass house to agriculture of an illegal kind. Tcheky Karyo as French not so angel like fellow is not forgettable.
In my country when movie was in theatres, in some cities, police was running kind of drug prevention lectures. Haha...

  10. I love Greenfingers, but I haven't seen Saving Grace, so I will have to check it out.

If you can find it, Grow Your Own is fun - it's about a group of immigrants being given an allotment as horticultural therapy :)

  14. I love movies with gardens, dear Ewa! Bernard and Doris is a good film and if you like orchids, it's an extra treat. Or the Green Card with the roof garden, and The Draughtsman's Contract with a French garden. I saw the trailer of a film in the 90's but I missed the film and do not remember the title - people talked a lot about plants using their botanical names. Does anybody know which movie it is?

  15. Hi Ewa, I just stumbled upon your blog and I really dig it. This may sound dorky, but I love an old 70's movie called Silent Running about a man in space caring for the last pockets of nature when told he has to get rid of them and come back home.

  16. Great post! There needs to be more and more gardening movies. I guess I never really considered saving grace a gardening movie until now--I guess cause it's mostly focused around one type of plant that can be a bit hard to grow in your garden without any trouble, haha.
