Italian Giusti family, owners of the palace of the sixteenth century, was given permission from the Emperor of Austria-Hungary to change their original family name to "Giusti del Giardino" due to the importance of gardens.
Palace and Garden Giusti (Palazzo e Giardino Giusti) are located in the eastern part of Verona, a short distance from Piazza Isolo and close to the city center. When you are in the old city of Verona, the gardens are located about 20 minutes walk from Juliet's balcony, are almost right across the bridge.
Worth a look, even if you are not really fond of formal gardens, because I admit that monumental avenue lined up with cypresses held my breath.
I share 15 photos today - as you can imagine, these are not all what I took there ...
The garden is considered one of the finest examples of Italian gardens.
Palace is a neoclassical building, built in the sixteenth century.
Gardens were founded during the Italian Renaissance in 1580 and are considered some of the most beautiful gardens of the Renaissance in Europe. They include tapestry garden and a maze and a beautiful garden on a slope, where you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of Verona.
At first in XVI century only two squares of tapestry gardens were designed on the right and left side of the cypress-lined avenue. A few years later they added another part with flowers, which is known from the old maps of Verona, located in the State Archives.
The present shape was given garden in the early twentieth century, and the maze was reconstructed after 1945.
Stunning garden.

ReplyDeleteI went to Italy last year. Unfortunately, I never visited this wonderful garden. I'm truly amazed with the photos in this post. I swear I will visit Palazzo e Giardino Giusti if I will have a chance to go to Italy again.
