Could you help to ID this plant?

I was told it's a kind of ginseng or rather ginseng like herb. From the description I've heard it made me really curious what it really is. Have you seen it maybe?

  1. I believe it is Callisia fragrans - don't know about its relationship to ginseng.....

  2. Rosekraft, thanks so much for your help! it will turn back to you multiplied :) exactly it looks like like Callisia frangrans.
Mentioned similarity to ginseng only via its healing properties.
Not many info about it, but I am going to research this. Thanks again!

  3. Glad I could be of help.
I have been growing one for 35 years, so you can assume they're tough little things. Not fuzzy about water or light, but thrive in moderate amounts of both.....

  5. Definitely Callisia fragrans. Native to Mexico, here in America its called ballet plant. Hardly ever available in the nursery trade, it's a traditional pass-a-long plant, unusually aquired from friends or neighbors. In strong light develops purplish coloration, and its a very tough and easy to grow plant. I always thought Calissia sounded like the name of a pretty girl actually...

  7. You are always quite welcome. I would have commented on your newer post about the plant, but it won't let me for some reason... i knew the plant was used medicinally, but I had no idea how you would go about it. Very informative links.
