Succulent - Aeonium Black Rose like ET phone home

This Aeonium Black Rose is growing naturally in the deep countryside of Algarve in South Portugal, between Olhao and Tavira. I wonder how long it was growing to get the shape like this?


It looks like it's longing for someting. What that could be? Any caption idea?

    Those are beautiful! I imagine they grow towards the strongest light source.
