Fragrant flowers of my angel's trumpet brugmansia

She must be liking the tomato fertiliser she gets every weekend.
Yes.
This is exactly what I do.
Every Saturday or Sunday SHE - Mrs Trumpet Brugmansia - gets big dose of minerals. I continue since mid June.
End of August (after 1,5 months) she started to bloom.
This is clear win-win situation. She likes fertiliser, I like her fragrant flowers.
There is still about 28 flowers to come. Neighborhood is filled with rich scent of these gorgeous fragrant flowers. The scent travels even to the street.
My conclusion is to start to fertilise it much earlier like beginning of May or end of April, while she is still indoor, waiting for the warmer days.
Is this container good enough for HER - Mrs Angel's Trumpet Brugmansia?

WE have these growing downtown. I want one really badly. It's beautiful....will it grow bigger in a larger container?

You have me wondering about trying this one next year for a deck plant .. having something scent and this dramatic .. well "win win" is RIGHT !

Darla, it grows much bigger :)
In bigger container it will grow bigger, however I saw them in much more dramatic size in similar containers. Unusual plant.

Joy, scent on deck is absolutely great. Watch the color - yellow are most fragrant.

Have you had luna moths at the blooms?

I think the fragrance of the yellow flowered variety is by far my favorite. Yours looks lovely. I'll have to remember the tomato fertilizer tip.

Thanks for yr approval. I have such trust to your designing style, that if you say "it has to go" I would not oppose :)
Actually I planned wooden barrel, but it would be too heavy to move it to cellar for winter.

No moths.

Good that you had them counted, 28 flowers to come... I suppose you treasure the plant a lot. A real beauty! ~bangchik

Love her!
I have a pink one and a white one.
They grow like weeds here in New Orleans, but I think I'll give mine some tomato food too so they will be uber gorgeoues!

Thanks for this tip. My angel's trumpet does not bloom very well, and it is very frustrating. Next year, I will try this. I already use tomato fertilizer on my tropical hibiscus plants, so it will be easy to put some on the brugmansia.

Hi, Ewa! I can almost smell the fragrance all the way here! They are a most enchanting plant! I did not know they would do so well as a container plant. Good for you for trying! If you transplant to a bigger pot will it increase in size dramatically? We want to see that! Meanwhile, it surely looks happy.
