Cat in Dior

On sunny Saturday morning, Atomik came back home after 2 days of being absent, with severe wound on his back. We took him immediately to vet. The wound looked horrible! it was so deep....
I think that Atomik was really aware how serious is the situation - I could read it in his eyes, when he was patiently sitting on the vet's table that was ugliest thing on the planet for him and probably smelling awfull. He was sitting there: calm, without any sound, scared like hell, his eyes were big and glowing - while doctor was cleaning the wound after local anesthesia.
I looked at Atomik and I could see that despite of stress and pain, he knew that we do all to help him - this is why he was not moving and not disturbing vet to make her job.
She decided to not make stitches, because of the depth and not being able to know how fresh is the wound. So it had to stay open for natural healing process.

After all vet said that she has not seen a cat sitting so quite during similar treatment.

Atomik got antibiotics and painkiller, but how to protect the wound from dirt and licking? Most popular are plastic collars, that make cats look like disgusted satellite dish, but still it doesn't protect the wound from dirt.

It was vets idea to use stockings to make kind of dress that keeps the plaster in place and protects the wound from being licked. Maybe Atomik was not very fond of this idea, but it was perfect solution and made the job.

If you need to use on your cat (which I don't wish you), use entire stocking, only remove the foot part. Cut out small holes for front legs and little bigger holes for back legs.
It took some time and few pairs of stockings to figure out what works best - the foot part of the stockings should go to neck section of the cat, while thigh goes to back part of the body - this way it fits best cats proportions.

On the picture above you can see Atomik catching some tempting smells getting inside from the garden - which he is missing so much. This is already 4 weeks since the event and since he was not out.

As you can see he was pretty comfortable in his new dress, although he was not big fan of it.

The wound is healing well and looks that Atomik will be able to GET FREE tomorrow. He doesn't wear his sexy tights anymore, but he wore it for 3 weeks.

After this sad event is coming to a happy ending, there is only one question left in my mind. How a cat can get wounded so bad?

What can warm YOU up on this cold winter morning?

Photobucket

Maybe the view of these red & energising chilli peppers - my last crop from capsicums growing in pots. Collected just before the snow has covered everything.

Photobucket

... or the view of this still profusely blooming hardy geranium - taken home for winter.

.... or maybe couple of cats, that don't want to go out ?

What would cheer YOU up this morning?

Thank you Thank you Thank you

Your good vibes reached here, and Atomik is much better!

Even doctor said today, that he is healing very very fast :))

We took off the collar. With the bandage story was different - Atomik himself took care of it, right first night. While having collar on.

Maybe he is not running yet, but his eyes are wide open and curious with the world again :)

Thank you again :)

Atomik needs your positive energy

Poor Atomik came home with serious wound on his paw. It didn't seem it will pass by itself, so we took him today do local vet 'Mrs Ewa - The Pet Doctor'.

After checking and little nervous discussion, vet decided, that there is an operation needed in anesthesia.

He was very good cat - not complaining too much during the examination.

Itteh Bitteh Kitteh got that protective collar so, he would not remove the bandage.

Now he is at home, sleeping on my laps while I am writing.

We have next visit scheduled for tomorrow at 9.00 despite that it is Sunday.

I know you are good hearted, so you will send your positive thinking for our beloved cat, even if you will not take time to leave a comment.

Thank you.

Does your kitty like to be washed?

This morning we decided, that it is time to wash Aslan again. We do it not frequently, but few times in a year.
He used to purely hate it at the beginning, but this time - maybe because of the camera presence, he decided to be more dignified and to not give us the chance to laugh at the pictures till the end of year...
There was no doubt that he had to be washed and I was hoping to get more funny pictures, so I am little dissapointed in a way. On the other hand I really admire him to be so patient - hopefully next time he will also behave...

Photobucket

His fur is very very dense. It takes long time to make it wet.

Photobucket

Then shampoo goes on the kitty and he tries to shake it off....

Photobucket

Cute, clean, wet kitty looking for rescue....

Photobucket

"Why the food suppliers have to make me dirty? Now I have to clean myself - sleeping would be so much better."

Photobucket

... and again... while some of us are in beauty parlors... the others have to work...

Photobucket

...while Aslan was taking bath, Atomic brought mouse again...

Atomic, your time comes next and soon!

What about your cats? Do they like to be washed?

Interactive fish TV

While some of us are in deep and sweet sleep...

... others are looking for entertainment ...

... trying hard to find it ...

... sometimes they do not mind to get wet and dirty to really feel the thrill ...

... and sometimes there is unexpected company appearing to watch your TV uninvited ...

... sometimes they got to close to you ...

... and you just keep an eye on them ...

... to make sure they feel respect ...

... and just pass you by ...

... but it is alway better to watch your back :))) ehe ...

... if they are good fellows and behave nice ...

... you even let them share your 'interactive fish TV' ...

Summer, winter, spring, pigeons, cats, seeds and Beenhakker

It is dull and sad outside, so I had a look at summer pictures and as you can see this georgous Heuchera and azalea 'Soir de Paris' look great together.

Fragrance is especially important in the garden, so if there is a choice, I go for fragrant one. This azalea is especially nice, cos of its delicate pink flowers and beautiful fragrance.

Temperature got crazy, our buds - city pigeons seems to be surprised...

... and even the local public green fellows were send to clean the lawns - is it a sign?

Aslan seems to be happy with this temperature change - he is protesting to go out, if temperature is below -5C.

Sorry - for the weak hearted fellows - we have to push him out and still it is not convincing. You push the back out, the head returns - 'snake-aslan'

I had to post this picture above - study of Aslan's nose is in a way fascinating :)

Some time ago, which is over one month, I bought seeds on Polish version of ebay... and look just 4 weeks and they arrived!

They were posted on 17.12 and they just arrived!

Happy me! At least I got them! Red and silver grass, and ophiogon planiscapus Nigrescens - promise of beauty.

Switch of subject on the picture below. It might be interested for some of our Dutch friends, that entire Poland got crazy aver one Dutch guy Leo Beenhakker, who is polish national football team coach since abt 2 years.
As you can see on the picture below he is really appreciated '100 people, that changed Poland' and he is on the list!

Look what happens. Atomic is trying to get my attention while I write about Aslan in my post...
exactly at the moment when I was asking myself 'why there is no nice pictures of Atomic lately?'.
This is going to change soon :)

Niszka in Sedum spurium

I just found this old picture taken when I still used to live in Warsaw. On the balcony I used to have a pot and growing Sedum spurium - its abundance - as you can see - not only me made happy. My cat Niszka (Neeshka) also loved it - her look on this picture is pretty... eee... absent - but she really loved to sleep there :)

Aslan also likes indoor blooms

Somebody asked how old Christmas cactus (Schlumbergera truncata) should be to bloom. I have an answer.
This one on the picture was planted by my 7 months ago. I just picked double segments from the mature (I prune it every spring to keep it shorter and more dense) and sticked it to soil. I was wondering as well whether it will bloom this year... and da da dam!
You can see small buds on it and unfortunately this schlumbergera will not open its buds, because somebody - that I will not name... moved the pot!
I grow this kind since 20 years and definately it drops all buds if the pot is moved, while the buds starts appear.

Outside, on the pond first winter frost. Phalenopsis blooming, however it needs changing the pot - somehow it got full of moss. Where the heck moss came from? I have this plant since 3 years and moss appeared in last months. Its blooming, but flowers are very small.

Doesn't it look like some kind of animal trying to get out of the pot?
