Urban forest - the essence of man's love for plants ... I went to the car diagnostic station and my jaw drops ...

Potted flowers usually grow at homes and offices and this is fine. Standard. We are used to this. But this !!!??? It's like getting to another planet, where there are still cars or other vehicles and car workshops or other vehicles.

Something amazing.

Mr Zbyszek sent me to the diagnostic station, because it was the time. I will not tell you the reason and I will not admit whether or not I accidentally was driving around without a valid technical tests.

Anyway, I am arriving ... I open the door, go in and my jaw drops .... I do not believe my eyes ... The industrial hall is about 10 m high and as far as my eyes can reach I see potted plants there. Mostly creepers, but not only ... potted flowers in a different form .... I can not help staring up like a tourist who comes to New York for the first time .... I slowly move towards the cashier, trying to grasp this phenomenon ...

- Good morning ... and these plants here is whose hobby? - I ask, in my humble opinion with admiration in my voice and in hope for interesting conversation.

- Good morning - he says dryly, probably suspecting that I want to drive away my attention from the car, so that I get the approval stamp in my car's registration document without a problem. But what he doesn’t know and I know, there will be no problem, because the car under the care of Mr. Zbyszek is in such a state that the “fly does not sit down” – as we say.

- All of us – he says and I see that there will be no interesting conversation on this topic... at least for now.

- But so specifically - I drill dangerously - who is watering it all?

- Each of us - he says - in particular, there is one, but if he is away, then each of us ... Please, get me a registration document. Wait a moment, I'll just finish…

I waited and I could not stop taking pictures. When it was over, he called me back:

- PLN 99, please. I handed him 100 PLN banknote. - I'm sorry, but I do not have a zloty ...

- No problem. Can I for this one zloty get a piece of hoya, because mine died and I would like to have it again.

- You may "steal" lady, but do not tell anyone, because it is known that stolen is best growing. Do you know that all those hoyas grew all from one plant? And when they bloom, that smell here I s heavenly... Come over soon ....

I will definitely come back.

Recycled Pallet Table Revisited

Hello Fellows Gardeners! Yesterday I was walking by table made of recycled pallets, so much liked by you. No wonder, cos the idea is stunning.

Few months passed and I was thinking that you also probably would be curious how it's doing. So, bam! Here it is.

Everything seems to be fine. No changes and no signs of wearing off. 

Instead, this little cute guys slowly pop out their heads...

I wonder. Anybody planning to make this sort of table this season?

Pallet garden ideas - stunning lil garden!

Last morning, very very early, I was walking down the street to gym and this is what I saw.
Right after fresh spring rain :)

Whats needed? Recycled pallets, great idea and two skilled hands.

Few nails, hammer, few buckets of good dirt and few flowering plants...

The result is stunning...

Undervalued bergenias or elephat’s ears

Today I had a walk in the city. That spot you see on the photo really caught my eye. See the vibrant magenta color of bergenia Winterglow? The strong contrast with fresh beautiful green color of weeping willow made me stand and stare for quite a while.

I slowly took the camera out and started to take photos. The bypassing people stopped and stared at me and the object of my interest. Why? They don’t see what I see?

Landscaping with Grasses = Unusual Spring Garden

I know, we all – you and me – are craving for the spring flowers. While looking for spring harbingers, despite, or maybe rather in addition to that, I found something else and would like to bring to your attention year-round attractive garden that looks magical even at this most difficult season, end of winter and beginning of spring.

I thought it was worthwhile to present this great example of a well planned plantings, attractive throughout the year, not only when the flowers appears.

Late February and early March is one of the worst periods in the garden here in Poland, when visually nothing happens, and most plants are bare and sad. Look at this garden, do you find it not attractive?

A well-designed garden looks good throughout the year, such as this one. Though this is the beginning of March and in the gardens there is nothing, apart from the first small harbingers of spring in warmer regions of the country, this garden looks attractive.

The combination of evergreens (boxwood, pachysandra, moss) with deciduous plants (grasses, geraniums, shrubs) gave a unique effect. In December and January, the dried grasses are beautifully rustling in the wind.

Hooray for designers!

If they would add some spring bulbs, I would be completely satisfied.

As the legendary Dutch landscape designer Piet Oudolf said, you need to plan planting not according to the way they are flowering but the way they are dying. Why? Because most of them are dead for most of their life cycle.

Oriental Patio Garden Before and After

Making a perfect design means making it perfect not only for the people that will spend  there most of their time, but also decrypting ‘genius loci’ – the spirit of the place. Gray and dull Warsaw calls for colors of different kind.

While searching for the divine inspiration, oriental part of my soul whispered to my ears, and not even realising how I knew that the best would be ‘The Oriental Opulence Spiced a bit with Decadence’. Client loved it! The colorful concept found great space in the client’s heart. And we made it!

Nature comes to city in delivery truck by Banksy

Banksy brings nature to the streets of New York. Witty idea in delivery truck. According to the author's website, delivery truck appeared last weekend and tours New York City - everyday different place.
Artist turned the truck into a garden oasis, inspired by John Steinbeck's classic novel The Grapes of Wrath.

The audio guide on the artist's website says: "The artist claims to have been inspired to create this piece after listening to a poem by Keats. Sorry, I misread that… the artist was p***** when he made this and it's incomplete."

15 Photos of the Modern City Garden in Warsaw

I always love to return to this beautiful modern city garden and see what's new ideas appeared. The owners Danusia & Tomek don't stop in achieving the best results.
Well maintained city garden is a magnificent retreat from long working hours.
Main theme - acidic soil loving plants. Tall spruces grow here long enough to make the soil acidic, thus perfect for rhodies, azaleas, hydrangeas. 
I was showing this garden already 5 years ago, so jump here to see the difference and how it has improved.

This dry and hot part of the garden is planted charmingly with miscanthus and late tulips. Doesn't it make great spring combo? It complements perfectly rusty modern garage, which is on the right side. 

Cramming different kind of plants here wouldn't make the same effect.  There was wisteria growing here before - I admit it was good decision to replace it with this charming composition.
I wonder how it looks in the summer while miscanthus gets bigger.
