Recycled Pallet Table Revisited

Hello Fellows Gardeners! Yesterday I was walking by table made of recycled pallets, so much liked by you. No wonder, cos the idea is stunning.

Few months passed and I was thinking that you also probably would be curious how it's doing. So, bam! Here it is.

Everything seems to be fine. No changes and no signs of wearing off.

Instead, this little cute guys slowly pop out their heads...

I wonder. Anybody planning to make this sort of table this season?

Oriental Patio Garden Before and After

Making a perfect design means making it perfect not only for the people that will spend  there most of their time, but also decrypting ‘genius loci’ – the spirit of the place. Gray and dull Warsaw calls for colors of different kind.

While searching for the divine inspiration, oriental part of my soul whispered to my ears, and not even realising how I knew that the best would be ‘The Oriental Opulence Spiced a bit with Decadence’. Client loved it! The colorful concept found great space in the client’s heart. And we made it!

Have a look at before and after photos.

Color frenzy fairytale...

Once… long… long… time ago… when I was young… and you were not born yet… there was a girl who loved gardens. She just started her first own garden… she was so focused on the plants and flowers that any additional element in the garden had to be in brown, so will not disturb admiring another beautiful plant in her newly starting collection.

Every little plant that appeared in the garden was looked after carefully. One day she decided that brown furniture is not elegant enough and she asked fellow bloggers about color in the garden. She was advised that BLUE might be right, because it would look great in the winter, while partly under the snow. She was thinking and thinking, considering the change.

After few weeks or even months she decided that WHITE is the only color she would love in the garden. So she painted the bench white. That’s all for her color courage in the garden so far.

Then one day she spotted color frenzy you can see on the photos! She knew the people who placed it together were right. Yet what could she do? Royal dignity must be maintained and thinking must be processed... What do you think?

Recycled green products new year inspiration

I look and admire the creativity of its creators. Parts that usually go to trash can get new life and not quite look trashy! New life as lamps, tables, stools, pillows...

Few years ago somebody got a great idea and decided to organize one day trade exhibition, where you can see and shop recycled green products which are the result of human creative minds.

Going to such exhibition is great way to find new products and get away from commercial offer – I am really fed up with shops stuffed with all same products manufactured in Asia.

I am more and more searching for new interesting products that can make the surrounding  look modern and more personalized.

You?

Remember old vinyl music records?

Stool made of triple cardboard and craft paper, no glue, just fittings.

Table made of triple cardboard and craft paper, no glue, just fittings.

Pillow made of jute sack, hand printed.

Lamp made of old telephone.

Table made of old washing machine.

Eco friendly, recycled textiles... jute pillows... rooster again...

I always liked jute for its natural and somewhat rough look. Recently on one of the coffee grain sacks I am recycling I've read "Save Amazon, use jute", so I got curious and searched why is it so.
Beside aestetical and pracitcal values, jute plants is very efficent in carbon dioxide (CO2) assimilation and it clean the air by consuming large quantities of CO2.
One hectare of jute plants consumes about 15 tons of CO2 from atmosphere and release about 11 tons of oxygen in the 100 days of the jute-growing season. Studies also show that the CO2 assimilation rate of jute is several times higher than that of trees.

In contrast with the production of the fastest growing wood plant which needs at least 10 to 14 years from plantation to harvest, and produces only 8 to 12 ton per hectare annually. Because the biological efficiency of jute is much higher than that of wood plants, the use of jute instead of wood to make paper pulp will lower substantially the cost of production of pulp and paper and save forest resources.

In the environment conscious world today, the jute gained the name of Golden Fibre. It is biodegradable and therefore environment friendly, so the products merge with the soil after sustained use. It enriches the soil with organic substance and helps to grow better crops. Its fumes are non-toxic and produce no residue.

This makes me even more happy to work with jute. Now I am working on jute pillows - some designs are still "cooking":) while I just have almost finished new pillow Rooster. The fabric 100% natural jute, pattern is inspired by Polish folk art from Lowicz region.
It needs sewing still... but have a look at the current stage...
